Our Keynote Speaker: Karen Gaffney, self-advocate who swam the English Channel and Lake Tahoe
Karen is president of the Karen Gaffney Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to full inclusion for people with Down syndrome and other disabilities. Her ability to speak from the heart is quickly making her one of the most requested motivational speakers in the United States. In 2001, Karen was the first persn with Down syndrome to complete a relay swim across the English Channel and in 2007 swam the width of Lake Tahoe. She has an Associate of Science degree and a Teacher’s Aide Certificate from Portland Community College. Karen earned a regular high school diploma and maintained a 3.0 grade point average. Child care available during conference BY RESERVATION
Childcare is available all day for only $5 per child. You must have a reservation - walk-ins will not be accepted. Fun activities are planned for the kids, including music, movies and crafts.
CEU Credit Available
A maximum of 6 Continuing Education Credits will be awarded. Cost is $10.

Travel I-45 (Gulf Freeway) south, approximately 12 miles, to the Almeda-Genoa exit. On the access road move to the right lane, the lane will curve right onto Almeda-Genoa. Continue on Almeda-Genoa 1/4 mile to Windmill Lakes Blvd and turn left. Life Tabernacle will be on your left.
From Galveston/Beltway 8 South
Travel I-45 (Gulf Freeway) north, approximately one mile north of Beltway 8, to the Almeda-Genoa exit. Turn left under the freeway onto Almeda-Genoa. Continue on Almeda-Genoa 1/4 mile to Windmill Lakes Blvd and turn left. Life Tabernacle will be on your left.
