Joanie Garro, MA, BCBA, CT, will present “Lights, Camera, Action”: An evidence based practice using scripting, acting, video modeling, and role playing to teach social skills.” Ms. Garro has worked with individuals with Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities for over 23 years. She is a board certified behavior analyst and certified special educator currently in private practice. She is the creator and director of Film Club - an inclusive social skills training program and has developed a video modeling intervention program using video recording to teach positive behaviors. Video modeling interventions involve a child watching recordings of positive examples of adults, peers, or him or herself engaging in a behavior that is being taught.
