How do you prepare for a meeting with your child’s teacher? What can you do to be an advocate for your child?
Become empowered by Making an Action Plan (MAP) for your child’s future. You will get the tools to create a MAP to guide your family to a bright future. Focus on the hopes and dreams you have for you child and communicate them to anyone who will listen.
Deedy Payne is an elementary teacher in CCISD. She has been teaching for 23 years and is certified in Gifted Education, Special Education and ESL. She is passionate about including ALL children in the general education curriculum and has learned many lessons from her fabulous 24 year old niece who has Down syndrome. Bridget has used the MAP process and even presented at her own IEP meetings starting in 7th grade. Deedy will share her story and give you ideas to help you navigate the school system.

Exploring Myself will aid parents in the challenges of their children growing up and developing an awareness of their bodies and those of others. The presentation will help parents of young children, adolescents and adults and will demonstrate the importance of beginning to teach your child about these topics early. The presentation will focus on the following topics:
· learning about my body
· adolescence and development
· the concepts of personal space, public vs. private
· relationships
Ms Jennifer Campbell is a Certified Special Education Teacher. She has been with Clear Creek ISD for 10 years as a Special Education teacher at Clear Creek High School and in a district-wide position as an Instructional Specialist. Ms Campbell has a B.S. in Psychology and Sociology earned from UHCL.
